Dear Parents

Well, here we are at another year end and saying farewell to our matrics who have written well with confidence and aplomb and of whom we are very proud; and now for the long wait!

We are delighted to tell you that Mr Ndwandwe has told me that our registration is with the Director of Education and should be signed any day now. It is for this reason that we have decided not to go down the Alpha route again next year for the Grade 10, 11 and 12’s. This is a huge cost saving in general. The last set of exams was set by our staff and moderated by teachers from other schools in and around Pietermaritzburg. We are therefore happy that we are working and testing to the correct standard.

I would like to say ‘thank you’ to probably the best staff Capulum has had. Thank you for your tireless commitment to our children and for all you do.

We also need to thank Tracey for all the organisational skills she brings. The office works! We unfortunately had to say farewell to Tonya who left at the beginning of November due to ill health. We wish her all the best and a speedy recovery. We would all like to thank Flora and Caroline for their smiles and their good natures as their brooms get used for cricket bats and the rake is found hidden beneath a prefab as it was being used to save a ball. Without them our school would not look as good as it does.

The move is ongoing; we have an amazing landlord who is putting in toilets for the children so there are now more than enough. He has also generously decided to build 4 new classrooms instead of the omnipresent prefabs. Well done to the staff and children who coped with the cold and the heat in them! However, there is lots of red mud so I do hope and pray they are completed in time for the beginning of next term.

Finally, leaving the best to last I would like to announce the our first Deputy Head of School is Coral Hardman. She has already proved herself in more ways than I can count. She brings to our school so many new skills that were sorely needed. Thank you, Coral for your help and support thus far and I look forward to many new and exciting developments as we thrive and grow.

We all wish you the very best with your celebrations. Drive safely and have a wonderful much earned holiday and rest if and when you get there. We look forward to seeing you at 1 Church Lane on the 21st January 2015.

Take care and God Bless
